HELPING EMERGING ATHLETES: 

KENNETH LADLER JR IS AN AMERICAN PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE WHOM LIVES A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE THAT HAS IN RESULT HELPED HIM STAY HEALTHLY AND RECOVER RAPIDLY FROM SPORTS RELATED INJURIES. KENNETH STRONGLY SUPPORTS HEALTHY EATING HABITS WHICH CREATES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO A FAST METABOLISM, IMPROVED BRAIN FUNCTION, MUSCLE RECOVERY AND DECREASED INFLAMMATION.

 

MISSION: IS TO EDUCATE AND TEACH EMERGING ATHLETES THAT NUTRITION IS A VITAL COMPONET OF THEIR SUCCESS ON AND OFF OF THE FIELD. THE MISSION IS INCLUSIVE OF HELPING EMERGING ATHLETES OVERCOME DISRUPTIVE EATING HABITS.

THE EAT TO PLAY FOUNDATION FOCUS IS NUTRITIONAL SKILLS FOR THE BUSY EMERGING ATHLETE. THE FOCAL POINTS ARE LEARNING TO READ FOOD LABELS, GROCERY SHOPPING AND LEARNING HOW TO PREPARE SIMPLE, YET TASTY, HEALTHY MEALS.

 

PROGRAM: (Inclusive of 3 activities)

 

ACTIVITY #1

FOOD LABELS: Teaching emerging athletes how to read food and supplement labels. Labels are a very important part of making healthier food choices. The goal is to get emerging athletes  accustomed to the language and facts typically shown on food and supplement labels.  Reading food labels is an important element of maintaining health. You want to know what is in the products you are consuming. We are promoting physical activity and healthy eating which will in result improve the long-term well-being of America’s kids.

ACTIVITY #2

GROCERY SHOPPING: After learning how to read food labels, emerging athletes will be taken an on trip to the local grocery store where they will shop for healthy food items and supplements that include the ingredients that were bought during the Food Labels activity. Obesity in the United States is a major health issue. This activity furthers our exempt purpose because learning to shop for healthy food is an essential educational component of our overall mission. Consuming too many calories or calories that come from unhealthy food is the real problem. Labels can be a very important part of making healthier food choices. We are promoting physical activity and healthy eating which will in result improve the long-term well-being of America’s kids.    

 

ACTIVITY #3

 

LEARNING TO PREPARE/COOK: a Simple, Healthy Meal: Using the healthy food items purchased from the grocery store in the previous activity, the group/class will learn from Professional Chefs how to prepare healthy meals. Starting with a salad, snack and then meal.
